The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) is the oldest and leading professional association for independent home inspectors. Since its formation in 1976, ASHI’s Standards of Practice have served as the home inspector’s performance guideline, universally recognized and accepted by professional and government authorities alike.
In addition, ASHI’s professional Code of Ethics prohibits members from engaging in conflict of interest activities which might compromise their objectivity. This is the consumer’s assurance that the inspector will not, for example, use the inspection to solicit or refer repair work.
ASHI is a national non-profit organization that sets its standards well above Illinois state standards.
To simply become a “state licensed” home inspector, one needs only to take classes and pass a test.
Within the ASHI organization, individuals must perform a specified number of inspections in order to attain different qualification levels. Also, while the state only requires 6 credits of continuing education annually, ASHI requires 20. The professionals at Inspect, Inc. are encouraged to go even beyond this goal.
INSPECT, INC. is proud to have professional home inspectors that are Certified Members of ASHI.
